- Your wishes
- Your photographs
- The people you chose
- The people who depend on you
- Your business
You have thought about it and put it off for another day.
You have a will, and it says nothing about your accounts, your files, or your photographs. You have not looked at your beneficiary designations since you first filled them in. People depend on you, and things would need to keep running if you were not there.
You know the conversation needs to happen, and you have not known how to start it. This month gives you the words and the order.
Month Three of the Digital Life Management System takes your accounts, your money, your files, and your people, one area at a time. You decide what should happen to each part, set it where the platforms will honor it, and tell the people you have chosen, on your own terms.
And you never have to do a step alone. Honest IT support is the companion to the Digital Life Management System and to Accounted For. When a step in Digital Legacy & Estate Planning needs a hand, you book thirty minutes on Google Meet and we do that step together.
Month Three, in the order that makes each week easier.
Week oneYou set the legacy options the platforms already offer and honor directly.AccountsSet the legacy tools
You record what each account is for and set the legacy contacts Apple, Google, and Meta already provide.
Week twoYou make your financial life clear to someone who has never seen it.MoneyMake it legible
You check the beneficiary designations that decide where money goes, because they usually override a will.
Week threeYou decide what should be preserved and who should receive it.Files and photographsChoose what to keep
Your documents and photographs, sorted into what matters, with a name beside each part.
Week fourYou name the people you are asking to help and tell them.Devices, people, and the businessName your helpers
Your devices, the people you are asking to help, the people who depend on you, and the business if you have one.
What is true when you finish.
- Apple, Google, and Meta know who to let in when you cannot say so yourself.
- Your beneficiary designations name the people you want.
- Your financial life makes sense to someone who has never seen it.
- You decided which files and photographs to keep and who receives them.
- Your wishes are written down where your family will find them.
- The people you chose know a plan exists and where to start looking.
- Someone could keep your home running while you are in the hospital.
- You did all of it on an ordinary Tuesday, while it was easy.
From Accounted For
Choosing these people is the hardest judgment in this month, and it is not a judgment about who you love.
Ashley KarrAccounted For
Hi, I’m Ashley.
I have worked for more than twenty years in accessibility, trust and safety, and product research and design. I helped create many of the systems our day-to-day lives depend on: banking, payments, identity, and fraud protection. One of my roles was vice president of product research at JPMorgan Chase, and I hold a master’s degree in human factors and systems engineering.
I write books, teach, and build good products. Whatever brought you here, I’m glad you came.
Ashley
Read my storyYou have questions, and I have plain answers.
Is this a will?
No, and it does not replace one. A will handles property. This handles the accounts, files, and access a will cannot reach, and it sets the tools the platforms themselves provide. The two are meant to sit side by side. I am not an attorney and this is not legal advice.
It sounds heavy. Is it?
Less than you might expect. You put things where they will be found, write down what someone would need to know, and then leave it alone until your next review.
What if I do not know who to ask?
The guide covers that, including how to split the job between more than one person so no one person carries all of it, and what to do when the obvious choice is not the right one.
Should I do Months One and Two first?
It works best that way, because you are deciding what happens to a list you have already made and protected. You can start here if this is the part on your mind.
How do I get the files?
The moment you pay, an email arrives with your download link. Save the guide to your own computer and it is yours. There is no account to create and nothing to log back into. You get it as a PDF and an EPUB, so it opens on a computer, a phone, a tablet, or an e-reader.
What if I need help with a step?
Book an Honest IT support session. It is the companion to the Digital Life Management System and to Accounted For. For thirty minutes on Google Meet, you and I work through that step together, and you keep the mouse.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Read it, try it, and if it is not what you wanted, write within seven days of buying it. A real person will get back to you soon with your refund.
